When picking out clothing for this Summer, what I’ve noticed to be widely trending are the following:
•Fun prints // Be bold! I’m so over being minimalistic during the summer. Don’t be afraid to step out your comfort zone this season and mix in fun bold prints and colors! One of the hottest colors this season, which is now my personal favorite, is yellow! Prints to look out for: floral, striped, gingham (duh), tropical and lemons!
•Texture // This season, I’ve been noticing a ton of ruffle detailing both on tops, dresses, jumpers and even bottoms! I love ruffles because I think they fit the 3 F’s: Fun, Flirty and Feminine! They can be cute or sexy.
Textures to look out for: pom pom/tassels, embroidery, eyelet lace, beading, pleats, ruffles
•Style // One of my absolute favorite styles to look out for this season are wrap dresses and tops. I’m pretty sure Australian’s started this trend and I have nothing negative to say about it. I’ve been seeing a ton of cropped wrap tops paired with some funky high waisted pants, and some cheeky wrap dresses in super bold prints and/or colors! Styles to look out for: Off the shoulder, one shoulder, cold shoulder, sleeveless, wrap style, crop top
For shoes, I’ve been noticing similar to trends to that in clothing. Such as:
•Espadrille like shoes // Look out for sneaks, platforms, slips featuring the espadrille material (forgive me as I totally blank out on how to explain this style. Just refer to my selects 🙂 )
•Suede suede suede // Suede slips, suede wedges, suede sneakers. Suede.
•Embroidery and Tassels // Because shoes are boring otherwise and there’s nothing that screams summer and fun more than colorful poms and embroidery detail!
•Metallic detail: When is metallic not in?
•Lace up // I’ve been seeing a ton of styles featuring the lace up tie. This style is super cute but it does get annoying sometimes as they usually untie or never stay where you want them too.
•Slips-Slides // If you can find a cute pair of slips, get them. Don’t think 2x. Props to Gucci for starting the slip trend, but in all seriousness, this style is so comfortable especially for the hotter days to walk around in yet still look fashionable.
I mean, this is self explanatory as we’ve all been seeing these accessories on Instagram.
•Statement earrings // A must this season and by statement I mean super out there. Go all out in size and color choices. My absolute favorite are the pom earrings (see selects below).
•Straw Bags // I am totally gushing over this whole vintage vibe going through the Fashion-sphere right now! From retro sunnies to the most adorable straw bags! Though I can’t link Zara, Zara has been making super affordable alternatives to the bag trend.
•Sunnies // And I’m not talking about your basic Aviators. I’m talking statement sunnies that give major throwback to the 80’s & 90’s. Go for the funky glasses that your friends may have laughed at you over. Be Bold! This seasons trends are all about being a standout.
I want to quickly mention a couple of the skincare products linked below. To start, I live by my Coola Suncare SPF Makeup Setting Spray. I have the unscented one (I was unable to find it online). To give you an example of how life saving this is, this past Monday when I shot for 5 hours in 94 degree heat, my makeup looked 90% fresh by 10pm.
Another skincare featured here is the SuperGoop Sunscreen Mousse. I love this brand along with Coola because of how cautious they are of their ingredients and how skin friendly they are. Gone are the days of dreading sunscreen because of the greasiness and clogged pours!
Lastly, TréStiQue. Gosh. I love this brand so much. My absolute favorite lip crayon from them is the shade Costa Rica Coral (available only on their site). It’s the perfect coral without looking to orange or pink. Apart from carrying my favorite lip shades, they make the perfect on the go mini set with everything you would need for the on the go…(mini bronzer, mini highlighter, mini concealer, mini blush, mini eye shadow, etc).
I’ve linked one of the kits below but you can totally mix and match. Being a New Yorker who is constantly on the move, having this kit is perfect for touch ups throughout the day. Their products are super travel friendly. For example, if you look at their highlighter…on one end you have the highlighter, and if you take off the magnetic cap on the other end you have a blender! Another example: For a brow pencil you have the pencil on one end, and on the other you have a brow gel. It’s genius and life saving.
That’s pretty much the run down of what I personally think is trending this summer; everybody has their own taste and idea of what’s in or not. If you like what you see, I’d love to hear from you via the comments below! Or if you dislike something, let me know too so I can make sure to curate content you want to see!
